UNIVERSAL INTELLIGENCE

Source: Universal Intelligence By Tom Atlee

“There is something about the universe — an elegant order in the way everything fits and unfolds, an inexplicable beauty in its living patterns, and the mysterious depth and expressiveness of it all.”~Albert Einstein

It includes universal patterns, powers and wisdom at the core of our being, and the universe vibrates with our every act and thought. What happens in one place and time is linked to everything else far more intimately than we could ever imagine. There are flows and textures and energies, resistences and assistances, that we can join and follow and grow stronger.

And this order that is larger than us,has its own logic and direction in which we are not in charge. Nor are we uninvolved. We need a life strategy that is more real than both total submission and arrogant manipulation. We can try respecting, befriending, cooperating with and creatively moving in harmony with this infinitely powerful and complex intelligence, to the best of our ability. We are, after all, one part of It co-creating whatever is next with all the other parts.

Humility is, naturally, an excellent place to begin in our efforts to cooperate with universal intelligence. “Letting go”is another part of cooperating with universal intelligence — being unattached to outcome, realizing we’re not in control.

At times, I feel more like a conduit for a larger, all-inclusive intelligence. I have is a sense of being guided. It is a gut feeling that what I’m doing is the right thing (or not) at that time…as if someone or something were clearing the way for me.

  1. In general the edit is fine, Sid. As original author I’d change the second paragraph to read something like this:

And this order that is larger than us,has its own logic and direction in which we are not in charge. Nor are we uninvolved. We need a life strategy that is more real than both total submission and arrogant manipulation. We can try respecting, befriending, cooperating with and creatively moving in harmony with this infinitely powerful and complex intelligence, to the best of our ability. We are, after all, one part of co-creating whatever is next with all the other parts.

    How’s that?

    Coheartedly,

  2. Hi Tom,

Thanks for clarifying authorship…I have changed title and source link accordingly….I had a request from a reader to simplify the essay so it could be read and understood by children and attempted to edit it for that reason…I hope you feel comfortable with changes….

    admiringly,
    Sid

  3. It seems this is edited from my essay at
http://www.co-intelligence.org/Universal_Intelligence.html — not that I mind you putting my words in Einstein’s mouth 🙂 …

I suspect it was based on a misinterpretation of Einstein’s name at the top of the article, identifying the first sentence in italics as a quote from Einstein’s “The World as I See It”. The rest of it was written by me.

However, based on the fundamental understanding in the article, itself, all such statements can be considered to come through us — not from us — from a larger intelligence in which we are always participating, but whose entirety is quite beyond our comprehension.

    Coheartedly,
    Tom

  4. Carol…We are but only a small drop of water flowing in an infinite river…who are we really able to change anything of significance…Sid

  5. So eloquently said. I know what you mean when you feel like part of a larger whole. Whenever feeling willful, all I need is to do is remember this.
