SUBCONSCIOUS SURRENDER

Our subconscious is continually receiving and sending messages…perhaps the most important message from the social environment is to achieve a successful role and identity…although it contains misleading ideas and beliefs our subconscious accepts the message without questions… unfortunately it then takes on the meaning and purpose of our life, creating a preoccupation with self control inconsistent with life’s natural spontaneous rhythms…it tends to result in a feeling of alienation and being lost in a confusing world.

There is need for an alternative subconscious message that would neutralize its conflict with social conditioning…paradoxically the needed message appears to be completely opposite from our social assumptions…basically they are “let go” and also “surrender”…in reality they are not opposites but instead complimentary and interrelated experiences…you cannot comfortably and effectively have one without the other.

Most spiritual practices attempt in their various ways to encourage us to learn this message therefore gaining a sense of balance and harmony…but unfortunately our basic belief in a separate self with a need to achieve is so deeply embedded in our subconscious mind that introducing a message which appears totally opposite will meet considerable resistance.

My favorite technique is through some basic form of word suggestion….when faced with a disturbing emotional situation I will begin repeating the words “let go ” and also “surrender” which I find particularly effective in freeing me from unnecessary expectations…these words need to be sincerely repeated over a period of time and take on the form of a prayer…while most people pray to enhance their expectations, the real blessing is received when we surrender or sacrifice a compulsive expectation.

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” ~Earl Nightingale

“You affect your subconscious mind by verbal repetition.” ~W. Clement Stone

“Only one thing registers on the subconscious mind: repetitive application – practice. What you practice is what you manifest.”~Fay Weldon
