I not only enjoy the awareness of having an inner child but also feel it is the most important part of my personality…I have tried to guess its age and judge it to be about 8 years old…but what is most remarkable about my inner child is that it does not get any older…everything else about me changes with time except my inner child…it is ageless and timeless in the same way as the universe…could it be our inner child is a reminder of our true roots?

Carl Jung describes our inner child as the “Divine Child”…William Wordsworth refers to “the child as the father of the man”…the child naturally has spiritual qualities as we can all remember during our childhood and continue to see in all children …unfortunately, most cultures attempt to undermine the inner child by impressing upon children how much they have to learn before becoming an adult.

Generally little recognition is given to the miraculous wonders of childhood and their natural inborn gifts along with the great potential of developing these extraordinary qualities…however our inner child can be the foundation of our personality from which all growth flourishes…and instead of experiencing our self as a separate and socially conditioned adult we can feel totally at one with our natural inner child.

“The great man is he who does not lose his child’s-heart.” ~Mencius

“One of the virtues of being very young is that you don’t let the facts get in the way of your imagination.” ~Sam Levenson

“If you want to be creative, stay in part a child, with the creativity and invention that characterizes children before they are deformed by adult society.” ~Jean Piaget

“If children grew up according to early indications, we should have nothing but geniuses.” ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“The reluctance to put away childish things may be a requirement of genius.” ~Rebecca Pepper Sinkler

  1. Albert Einstein said this about our forced abandonment of childish ways,  The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.

  2. Beautiful!!! 🙂

  3. Hi Jinan,

I totally agree that schools are a primary source of left brain conditioning…however in America we are entering into a post industrial age when left brain dominance is no longer desirable and right brain abilities are more appropriate.

Education now is searching for a new approach to right brain development…as a pioneer in this field your contributions can be valuable to a transforming American culture.

This reply is not enough. Please try to study how harmful is ‘schools’ for human beings. The cognitive damages of schooling is enormous.

We are born learners, holistic with proper balance in left and right brain activities. The splitting is done by schools by not allowing the right brain to function. The people who are least damaged manage to keep the right brain active,
let me explain in another way. The non literate communities culture is right brain dominated supported strongly by the left. But the textualised and digital cultures the left brain is the controlling factor. School does not allow independent, autonomous, organic and natural functioning of human brain. It always takes you to past, text (words), control, obedience, authority,
I have studied how children are brought up in non literate socities. It is so different from both western and the westernised indian culture. There childrens right brain is truely given freedom to grow. But the ‘educated’ does opposite to this.

I can chellenge that the results we are seeing now is only because the study is being done on literate people and also because of the biase we feel educated are better than the non literate in solving problems. I have conducted tests to prove other wise.
We live in a textualised left brain dominated culture. and education is the cause.

  5. Hi Jinan,

Thank you for your kind and informative comment.

I have visited your fascinating website and was particularly impressed with your understanding and commitment to right brain awareness and activities.

Your journey is quite extraordinary !

  6. I liked ur site. I have been living with non literate communities and studying them and their children. The left right brain split is caused by schooling and education. they learn experientially. The school reverses the natural way of learning which is the right brain collects information and the left brain does the processing but in schools we dont let that happen. we use only the left. some people escape it like Einstein.
