EGO PROBLEMS

outsite-the-ego

Our ego operating from the left brain tends to dominate the energies of our whole brain so that the right brain is unable to express its awareness to our conscious mind…it appears only when the ego is defeated or in a state of relaxation do we realize what we are missing and needs to be developed.

“If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.” ~Deepak Chopra

“The problem is that we have allowed our egos, the part of us which believes that we are separate from God and separate from each other, to dominate our lives.”~Wayne Dyer

“All of us, including myself, have come from this place called God, and it is that God within each and every one of us that directs our lives, unless we leave it and take on something called the ego, which is really hard to let go of.”~Wayne Dyer

“The moment you drop the search, you drop the ego also.”~Osho

“Perhaps middle-age is, or should be, a period of shedding shells; the shell of ambition, the shell of material accumulations and possessions, the shell of the ego” ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

“It is the nature of the ego to take, and the nature of the spirit to share.” ~Proverb

“The ego is not master in its own house.” ~Sigmund Freud

“Ego: The fallacy whereby a goose thinks he’s a swan”~Anon

“Ego is simply an idea of who you are that you carry around with you.” ~ Wayne Dyer

” The sickness of my ego has been dispelled, and my pain is over and done.” ~ Sri Guru Granth Sahib

“Modern man believes he is fruitful and productive when his ego is aggressively affirmed, when he is visibly active, and when his action produces obvious results.” ~ Thomas Merton

  1. OMG! this has been just mind blowing information I must say. I have learned so very much from stumbling across this article also posts. My 12 year old daughter has desided to write her persasive speach on EGO! as she is a School leader she would like to make a difference. And that she will certainly try, to convay. All of this info has been really fantastic and shall be put to great use. God works in the most amazing ways. Thank You both!

  2. Liana,

Thanks for your excellent link on transcending the ego…I have made a copy of it and plan to post it on my blog soon.

I also see the ego as a survival mechanism necessary for our adaptation but not as our real identity…to me the core of the ego are learned expectations which if unfulfilled is a source of painful disappointments and meaninglessness…I approach these problematic expectations by using a form of mantra meditation repeating the words “let go”and “surrender” in reference to these expectations and the message eventual reaches the subconscious mind and the expectations vanish…essentially it is a form of self hypnosis.

  3. This is also a great article, “Transcending Ego: An Attainable Goal” by Andrew Cohen http://www.andrewcohen.org/teachings/transcending-ego.asp

I like the perception shift of what our ego really is. To me it is an interface between the physical and spiritual. We have to be able to survive and identify ourselves as separate to do so. If we don’t survive, then we don’t get to evolve to have the creative spiritual experience that is our potential. As soon as we, as spiritual seekers, stop resisting an essential aspect our selves we can evolve. It only takes a second. I’m still practicing that second over and over though. This is where humor really
does help…thanks, Sid! It’s all important, it just doesn’t have to be that serious.
